1. Over 21.40 lakh farmers enrolled under the PM-KMY scheme

More than 21.40 lakh farmers have so far joined the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan-Dhan Yojana (PM-KMY) pension scheme meant for small and marginal farmers, said Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Tuesday. The pension scheme was launched in September 2019 to provide old-age protection and social security. Read more here.

2. GI-tagged ‘Bhoot Jolokia’ from Nagaland exported to London for the first time

For the first time, a consignment of Nagaland’s ‘Raja Mircha,’ also known as King Chilli or Bhoot Jolokia, was exported to London. Bhoot Jolokia received its GI certification in 2008. According to an official release from the Commerce & Industry Ministry, this is a major boost to exports of Geographical Indications (GI) products from the north-eastern region. Read more here.

3. Kerala announces relief package of over 5000 crores for small scale traders and farmers

The Kerala government has announced a financial package of over 5000 crores to revive the state economy lagging due to the COVID 19 pandemic. “This package is specially focused to provide assistance to small scale traders and farmers of the state who have been adversely affected by the pandemic” as told by Balagopal to the media. 4. ‘Krishikarna’, a project to promote hi-tech farming, launched in Pallikkal panchayat of Thiruvananthapuram

Nesli S is excited about the mini polyhouse being set up on her land at Pallikkal panchayat in Thiruvananthapuram. The 50-year-old homemaker and farmer already grows vegetables and mushrooms and runs a plant nursery on 17,256 square feet of leased land. Read more here.

5. Import duty on masur dal cut to zero, Agri infra development cess halved to 10%

The Centre on Monday reduced the import duty on masur dal to zero and also halved the Agriculture Infrastructure Development Cess on the lentil to 10 percent, in a bid to boost domestic supply and check rising prices. Read more here.

7. Haridwar exports bitter gourd & okra to Dubai for the first time

The first consignment of vegetables from Haridwar was exported on July 26 to Dubai, UAE. This consignment includes bitter gourd, okra, pear, and curry leaves. This is the first time vegetables of Haridwar will reach Dubai. Also, the opportunity came right in when India is set to witness the highest ever horticulture crop production. Read more here

8. TAFE launches Massey Ferguson 244-Puddling special tractors for Andhra farmers

TAFE Ltd. has launched Massey Ferguson 244 DI-Puddling special tractors in the 44 hp range for the cultivation of paddy. This tractor comes in 2 variants viz. MF 244 PD for deep-mud puddling and MF 244 DI PM which is suitable for dry land or shallow puddling. Read more here.

9. Kerala’s Kudumbashree launches program to turn fallow land into lush field
